Unfortunately, all the residents are a bit subdued, even Leila. She brings a box of doughnuts from her shop, Donut Delights, and expects a nice visit with Leila Howard. Heather Janke travels across town to visit a family friend at Hillside Manor, a local nursing home. The mystery itself was a tad disappointing, though.more But she is good at what she does, which is making donuts and being a part time investigator. Heather is herself a placeholder for righteous retribution, a role she embraces with some hesitation. I thought the shift in tone was well handled. Well the background of Heather, our main character, changes from her workplace, to her friend's lieu of hanging around, to the crime scene. But having realized that I'm going to try and say something positive about this book.
